Spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: There was no "preliminary agreement" in the Vienna talks

According to the news agency of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the 17th local time, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Khatibzad said at a weekly press conference that if necessary, the joint committee meeting of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Iranian Nuclear Issue will be held again this week. , But there was no "preliminary agreement" at the meeting in Vienna, saying that unless all the conditions are met, there will be no agreement.

Since April 6 this year, the relevant parties of the Iranian Nuclear Issues Joint Commission have held multiple rounds of talks in Vienna on resuming compliance with the nuclear agreement and lifting the US sanctions against Iran. Three working groups have been established to determine what Iran should take. There are three aspects of nuclear measures, the scope of the U.S. lifting of sanctions against Iran, and the order in which the U.S. and Iran will take the implementation measures, and conduct technical communication.

Iran's condition for re-compliance with the nuclear agreement is that the United States lifts all sanctions against Iran at one time, and Iran will take performance measures after confirming that the sanctions have been lifted.

Khatibzad said on the same day that negotiations aimed at resuming compliance with the nuclear agreement are still underway, because three independent working groups are dealing with related issues. Through the efforts of the working groups, a considerable part of the important issues has been resolved. But there are still some parts that need to be decided at the political level. If necessary, Iran is ready to participate in a new round of joint committee meetings.

Khatibzad stated that the relevant laws passed by the Iranian parliament three months ago prohibit the International Atomic Energy Agency from inspecting Iran’s nuclear facilities beyond the safeguards agreement, and they are still valid.

But previously, the IAEA Director General and the Chairman of the Iran Atomic Energy Organization reached an interim agreement stipulating that surveillance cameras should be installed in Iran’s nuclear facilities. However, the files recorded by these cameras cannot be provided to the International Atomic Energy Agency unless the United States lifts its control of Iran. Sanctions.

Khatibzad also said that these surveillance files may be deleted within a month, and this possibility cannot be ruled out.

Unless the ongoing Vienna talks can yield results, an agreement can be reached on resuming compliance with the nuclear agreement.
