"The Secretary of State discussed US efforts to end the violence that claimed the lives of Israeli and Palestinian civilians, including children," the US State Department website said in a statement.

The diplomats also discussed ways to move forward to overcome the crisis.

The American side, Price indicated, will continue to engage with Israel, the Palestinian Authority and other stakeholders in the region to reduce tensions and end hostilities.

Earlier it was reported that Israeli planes attacked the main operational headquarters of the Hamas internal security service in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Israel has also announced 3,350 missiles fired from Gaza since May 10.
