, has caused at least 162,778,861 infections and 3,375,243 deaths.

According to the latest budget available from the

WHO

, relating to the 24 hours between 2 pm on Saturday and the same time yesterday, the number of new infections from Covid on the planet was equal to 658,585 while deaths increased by 12,034 units. WHO statistics take into account only officially confirmed data on incidence and deaths presented by states. Almost half of the infections reported to the WHO in the reference 24 hours occurred in Southeast Asia (327.745), followed by North and South America (211.264) and then by Europe (76.828).



At the level of individual countries, the

United States

they remain by far the most affected nation with 585,967 deaths out of 32,940,470 infections. On the infection front, the ranking (limited to the 16 nations that have exceeded two million cases, 12 of which are now over three million) continues with

India

, (24.68) then with

Brazil

(15.62) ,

France

(5.93) ahead of

Turkey

(4.11) ahead of

Russia

(4.94). We therefore find Great Britain (4.46), Italy (4,159,122 total infected, of which 5,753 yesterday and 6,659 Saturday), Spain (3.60), Germany (3.60), Argentina ( 3.30), Colombia (3.11), Poland (2.85), Iran (2.75), Mexico (2.38), and Ukraine (2.21).

India

recorded 281,386 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours along with 4,106 deaths. The top five states that have detected the maximum number of cases are Maharashtra with 34,389, followed by Tamil Nadu with 33,181, Karnataka with 31,531, Kerala with 29,704 and Andhra Pradesh with 24,171. 54.37% of new cases are reported from these five states, with Maharashtra alone holding 12.22%. Of the 4,106 reported deaths, Maharashtra (974) leads the tragic ranking, followed by Karnataka with 403 fatalities in the last 24 hours. Up to this morning in India there have been 274,390 victims and at least 24,684,077 infections since the onset of the disease, but according to various experts these numbers are largely underestimated, so much so that they have to be multiplied by five, if not even eight times.



On the day just ended,

Brazil

recorded 1,036 new deaths due to Covid-19, which brings the total to 435,751 for me. The new infections were instead 40,941 for a total number of 15,627,475 since the onset of the disease.
