The American "Axios" website quoted Israeli officials as saying that the administration of US President Joe Biden is increasingly urging Israel to consider ending the military operation against the Gaza Strip, and the site also stated that it is very likely that the ceasefire talks will start within days.

The website also quoted Israeli officials as saying that the Israeli military achievements against Hamas, and the increasing international pressure due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.

They call for a gradual move towards ceasefire talks.

The website added - quoting from the officials themselves - that the air campaign in Gaza has achieved most of its goals, and that the next step in expanding the operation is a ground invasion, and this is what government officials do not want, according to the site.

However, the same officials assured the site that a ceasefire is not on the table for the time being.

Regarding contacts with the Americans, Israeli officials said that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken did not pressure the Israelis to stop the military operation against Gaza, and that Blinken said that Washington does not want an all-out war or civilian casualties in Gaza.

In the context, the Israeli Channel 12 quoted a senior security official as saying, "We are close to ending this round of operations in Gaza and we will enter a decisive day."
