Augsburg (AP) - Frank Baumann has avoided a clear commitment to Florian Kohfeldt before the Werder Bremen season finale in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga.

After the 2-0 draw at FC Augsburg, the managing director initially left it open as to whether the coach would still be sitting in the coaching bench against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky) on the last day of the match.

“We have a brutally big disappointment, so I don't want to make any clear statements,” said Baumann in the ZDF “sports studio” late on Saturday evening.

He wants to coordinate with his colleagues and the supervisory board first.

"We have to let the disappointment sink in first," said Baumann of the "Deichstube".

The sports director has not yet had time to exchange ideas with the other responsible persons.

As a result of the ninth winless league game in a row, Werder fell to relegation place 16. Kohfeldt then emphasized that he had the confidence to save Bremen from relegation in an emergency, as in the previous year, by relegation from relegation.

"I'm still combative," said the 38-year-old.

At the end of April, after the 1: 3 at 1. FC Union Berlin on matchday 31, Baumann initially left Kohfeldt's future open.

Subsequently, however, after long deliberations, the coach was given confidence.
