The seven-day incidence of new corona infections fell further on Sunday in Hesse.

After the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days on Saturday fell below the threshold of 100 for the first time in almost two months, at 99.7, the value was 93.0 on Sunday, according to the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin .

685 new corona infections were registered in the state within 24 hours, increasing the number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 279,036.

The number of deaths rose by ten to a total of 7,128.

The federal emergency brake, with which restrictions automatically apply when the number of infections increases from an incidence value of 100, only applies at the level of the districts and urban districts.

In Hesse, 11 of the 26 districts or urban districts were still above the value of 100 on Sunday. If the mark is undercut on five consecutive working days, the restrictions will be relaxed.

A tiered concept of the state of Hesse then applies.

Relaxed corona rules

According to a list of the country, the corona rules will be relaxed in the Rheingau-Taunus, Darmstadt-Dieburg, Hochtaunus, Vogelsberg and Wetterau districts and in the city of Darmstadt from Monday (May 17th, 21). According to the Divi intensive care register, 369 people in Hesse were treated for Covid-19 in intensive care units in Hessian hospitals on Sunday, 187 of them had to be invasively ventilated. According to Divi, 1683 of the intensive care beds currently available in 1934 are occupied, including patients with other diseases.

For example, the nocturnal exit restrictions will be lifted and classes 1 to 6 can be taught face-to-face again. Zoos and museums may reopen under certain conditions. Tourism is also possible again; conditions also apply. Outdoor catering is allowed to open again, guests must present a negative rapid test or proof of complete vaccination protection.
