"The German Bundestag criticizes Germany's pursuit of the 2% goal of NATO," the document says.

It is noted that with an increase in military spending, Germany will become the state that spends the most in Europe for these needs.

“Now NATO's military expenditures have already amounted to 18 times more than that of Russia,” the parliamentarians note.

Against this background, the faction called on the FRG government to “act hard” within the framework of the European Union and NATO for general and global disarmament, as well as “energetically influence” the conclusion and implementation of relevant agreements.

In addition, the Bundestag appealed to the country's Cabinet of Ministers with a proposal to support the idea of including Russia in existing or new formats of dialogues and to advocate a system of bilateral security in Europe together with Moscow.

In February, as reported by TASS, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that he expects the member countries of the bloc to increase military spending by 2024.

According to him, such a measure should show the allies' commitment to "the obligation to protect each other."
