Egypt opens the Rafah border crossing with Gaza in one direction
On Sunday, Egypt opened the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip, amid great security and health measures.
A responsible Egyptian security source, who asked not to be named, said that the Rafah crossing was opened at 11 am this morning in one direction only from Gaza to Egypt, as the crossing is operating at half its capacity due to the official holidays on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
The source added that the crossing was opened for the entry of stranded Palestinians from Gaza.
In turn, Kamal Al-Khatib, representative of the Palestine Embassy in Cairo, at the Rafah crossing, the community leader and the Sheikh of the Palestinians in Sinai, confirmed that the Rafah crossing was opened today to receive stranded Palestinian students and patients transferred to Egyptian hospitals.
He pointed out that no Palestinian wounded were received from Gaza as a result of the Israeli bombing of Gaza, and no ambulances from the Egyptian side entered Gaza to transport the wounded.
