Hennef (dpa / lnw) - During his search for poultry, a young eagle owl got tangled in a net in Hennef and triggered a fire service.

The bird of prey had an “appetite for chicken” and wanted to strike at a chicken pen, the fire brigade announced on Sunday.

But this was secured against birds of prey - the eagle owl got caught with its left wing in the nylon net and remained sitting on the ground.

Rescue workers motivated the animal on Friday to hop into a rescue box and then released it from its position.

Experts determined that the male eagle owl was currently busy building its nest.

Unhurt, he was finally abandoned "so that he can continue his family planning," wrote the fire brigade.
