Mainz (dpa / lrs) - In day-care centers and elementary schools, "Lolli tests" should be introduced across the board, according to Christian Baldauf, chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

"After the Whitsun holidays at the latest, the lollipop tests must be used across the board," demanded the parliamentary group leader in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament at the weekend.

In the “lollipop tests”, children have to suck on the test sticks for 30 seconds like on a lollipop.

For smaller children in particular, the "lollipop test" method is much more pleasant than a nasopharynx swab, explained Baldauf.

"It gives educators and teachers relief and new protection from the virus at the same time."

The state government should therefore initiate all the necessary organizational measures to prepare for the “lollipop test” method.

Up until now, the lack of approval for self-tests has stood in the way of the "lollipop tests" becoming more widespread.
