The head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, urged Russians to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, and not wait for the third wave of the pandemic.

“We are often asked about the risk of a third wave.

I think this question is absurd: no need to wait - you need to prevent it, "maybe" in this situation will not work, "he said on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel.

Recall that on January 18, mass vaccination against coronavirus infection began in Russia.

On May 12, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that more than 24 million people had already passed various stages of vaccination in the country, and drew attention to the importance of the vaccination campaign in the fight against the pandemic.

“We need to form collective immunity by the end of the year,” Mishustin said.

The RDIF clarified that the registration was carried out as part of an accelerated procedure.

“The regulatory approval of Sputnik V in Ecuador is an important step in protecting the population with one of the best vaccines in the world that has demonstrated high efficacy and safety in clinical trials and mass vaccinations,” he added.

The fund noted that Sputnik V ranks second in the world in terms of the number of approvals received by state regulators.

In addition, RDIF announced the registration of a single-component vaccine Sputnik Light in Venezuela.

“The approval for the Sputnik Light vaccine follows the approval of the Sputnik V two-component vaccine, which is already being used successfully in Venezuela to protect human health.

Sputnik Light will help speed up the vaccination process and prevent the spread of coronavirus, ”Dmitriev explained.

The RDIF stressed that the efficiency of Sputnik V is 97.6%.

This result was obtained by analyzing data on the incidence of coronavirus among Russians vaccinated with both components of the drug in the period from December 5, 2020 to March 31, 2021.

At the same time, the effectiveness of "Sputnik Light" is 79.4%, which exceeds the effectiveness of many vaccines requiring two injections, concluded in the fund.
