investigates the death of a two-year-old boy in
Badajoz
that occurred last Wednesday, in strange circumstances after a fall down the stairs inside the family home.
The minor was in the care of his father's girlfriend.
The parent had left home early in the morning to work.
A few minutes later, around 7:00 a.m., the minor fell down the stairs that connect the second floor of the house with the first, and was left lying unconscious on the floor.
However, the emergency services were not notified until three and a half hours later when by chance a police unit and municipal technicians went to the area of the event, in the Cerro de Reyes neighborhood, due to a problem with an occupied house. illegally.
Once inside the home, after unsuccessfully trying to revive the child in his bed, where he had been since the fall, he was transferred to the
Badajoz
Maternal-Infant
Hospital
, where he died hours later.
Earlier this Saturday, the mother of the minor has filed a complaint against her ex-husband's girlfriend where, in addition, she asks that an investigation be opened to clarify the facts and where she is accused of alleged reckless homicide and / or omission of the duty of relief.
The
Police have
already taken a statement from both the father's girlfriend and the father and an autopsy has been carried out on the minor.
Two other four-year-old twin brothers of the deceased minor live in the house.
Apparently, a few days ago the minor had also fallen in similar circumstances inside the house but without causing serious injuries.
In principle, there was no other type of antecedents, nor was the mother known of any alleged episode of mistreatment of the child.
As EL MUNDO has learned, the agents also have in their possession different mobile messages that the father's girlfriend sent to a friend after the accident and where the circumstances of the events are collected, according to their version.
Thus, the
messages
- sent shortly after seven in the morning and which at first had no response - indicate that the boy tripped on the steps and fell to the ground when she was supposedly accompanying him down the stairs.
Then, after the fall, and with a strong blow to the head, she tried to revive him when he was unconscious but was unsuccessful and decided to put him to bed, but did not call an ambulance until they appeared, due to other circumstances -the issue of the
squatters
- municipal housing agents.
Around 09:22, she sent another message to her friend where she confessed that she is scared and nervous because the child seemed to have died.
It was not until approximately 10:30 a.m., when the health services were called, that is, three and a half hours after the fall, and only when the municipal technicians were inside the house.
Approximately 24 hours after entering the hospital, the minor died.
The complaint filed by the child's mother considers that, if the father's girlfriend had called the ambulance as soon as the fall occurred, the minor could have been saved.
