15 May 2021At the end of a two-hour and 44-minute battle, Lorenzo Sonego must surrender to world number one in the semifinal of the Internazionali d'Italia at the Foro Italico. Djokovic has imposed himself in three games, with the score of 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-2. In any case, the blue concludes his best tournament and will make a leap forward in the ATP ranking from next Monday.

In the morning, Sonego had overtaken the Russian Andrei Rublev with the score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in two hours and 33 minutes. Karolina Pliskova is the first finalist of the Internazionali d'Italia. The Czech, number 9 on the scoreboard and in the ranking, beat Croatian Petra Martic, number 25 Wta, in the semifinals, with a score of 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 in an hour and 57 minutes. In the final Pliskova will face the Polish Iga Swiatek (15), who beat the American Cori Gauff for 7-6 (3), 6-3 in an hour and 47 minutes.
