The head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ensures that his services are continuing their investigations against the former Minister of Oil, accused of colossal embezzlement.

Diezani Alison-Madueke, who held this post under President Goodluck Jonathan between 2010 and 2015, is cited in a multitude of corruption cases.

The head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said his services have so far been able to seize $ 153 million, to which are added 80 properties for a total value of $ 80 million.

Authorities are also seeking to recover $ 115 million that was allegedly paid as a bribe to influence the results of the 2015 presidential election.

Despite everything, the former Minister of Oil remains for the moment out of reach for the justice of her country, since she fled to the United Kingdom in 2014. Attempts to launch an extradition procedure have until present failed.

In addition, the anti-corruption commission announced at the end of the week that it was looking for a former husband of one of Muhammadu Buhari's daughters, as part of a national real estate development project.

The main suspect - Gimba Yau Kumo - married one of Muhammadu Buhari's daughters in 2016, but they have been divorced for several years according to one of the head of state's spokespersons.

“

It should just be proof that our anti-corruption agencies are truly independent,

” he said.
