Kemnitz (dpa / mv) - The state chairman Leif-Erik Holm will again lead the AfD Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as a top candidate in the federal election.

He was put up on Saturday at a state election meeting in Kemnitz (Vorpommern-Greifswald district) with 188 votes on list position one for the federal election, as a spokesman announced.

Holm therefore prevailed against his party colleagues Andreas Mrachacz (70 votes) and Siegfried Klein (13 votes).

The election had to be repeated several times before because more votes were cast than members were present.

In the 2017 federal election, the AfD in the northeast reached 18.6 percent, six percentage points above the federal result.

Holm is considered a more moderate part of the party.

The AfD must push forward in the next legislative period, said the country chief.

There must be alternatives to "this completely screwed-up policy".
