Berlin (dpa) - The Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) calls for more freedom when traveling, including for citizens who have only received a first dose of the corona vaccine Astrazeneca.

«We all want to go on summer vacation.

I can well imagine a relief: Anyone who is vaccinated with Astrazeneca should get more freedom three weeks after the first dose, ”Kretschmer told the Berliner Morgenpost (Saturday).

This would orientate oneself towards Austria.

"The protection is already very good after the first Astrazeneca vaccination."

For the vaccine from Astrazeneca, the prioritization with a fixed order has now been lifted following a resolution by the federal and state governments.

In consultation with the doctor, you can also freely decide when the Astrazeneca second vaccination should take place within the permitted period of four to twelve weeks.

Full vaccination protection is only achieved after the second vaccination.

The vaccination commission recommends an interval of 12 weeks between the first and second dose for the preparation.

The background to this are observations that the longer distance leads to better effectiveness.

According to a report by the European approval authority EMA, the effectiveness of a two-time vaccination with an interval of four to eight weeks is 50.4 percent.

With twelve weeks or more, it increases to 72.1 percent to 82.4 percent.
