Hanover (AP) - After a robbery and a knife attack on a 17-year-old in Hanover by several girls of about the same age, the police are investigating for robbery and serious bodily harm.

So far, the suspects have not been arrested.

Witnesses to the incident would continue to be sought, the police said on Saturday.

The victim was badly injured by knife wounds.

Three unknown girls are said to have molested the 17-year-olds waiting at the central underground station on Kröpcke on Thursday evening on the platform.

Then they are said to have hit the youth and stole her handbag.

According to witness statements, the attackers were between 16 and 18 years old.

The victim chased the trio and got help from a 17-year-old.

They managed to put the trio in an underground car park, which had meanwhile been reinforced by a man around 18 years old.

The 17-year-old asked for her handbag to be returned.

An argument broke out, whereupon one of the girls is said to have drawn a knife and stabbed her.

The 17-year-old was seriously injured.

The group of girls and the man then fled on foot.
