REPORTAGE

The pro-Palestinian demonstration in Paris will therefore not have taken place, in accordance with the ban issued by the authorities who feared excesses. Despite everything, some demonstrators tried to meet in the north of the capital, near the Barbès metro station, clashing with the police forces mobilized in numbers. At the end of the afternoon, there were only small groups left, just a few dozen people, clashing here and there with the police, while the rain was enough to disperse the cloud of tear gas. .

However, the first gatherings, in the early afternoon, took place in peace.

Initially, it was a static and family gathering.

Moreover, many were there not only in support of the Palestinian people, but also to denounce the ban on demonstrations taken by the Paris police headquarters, at the request of the Minister of the Interior.

"It scandalizes me that the demonstration was banned"

"I really had the impression that we were in a state of war, there were so many policemen and police cars. All this for a demonstration for peace," laments Nassira, a protester, to Europe 1. "It scandalizes me that the demonstration has been banned, while in other Western countries demonstrations have taken place," she notes, in her hand a sign on which we can read: "The resistance n is not terrorism. "

Throughout the afternoon, the demonstrators were dispersed with water cannons.

On the other hand, other demonstrations took place in France, each time bringing together several hundred, even several thousand people, in peace.

This was the case in Lille, Metz, Montpellier, Strasbourg, Marseille and even Toulouse.
