Augsburg (AP) - Several hundred fans of FC Augsburg loudly received the FCA team bus on Saturday before the relegation duel with SV Werder Bremen as it drove up to the football stadium.
The supporters wanted to show their support to coach Markus Weinzierl and the FCA professionals before the important final home game of this Bundesliga season.
Spectators in the stadium are not allowed due to the current Corona situation.
Stefan Reuter praised the fans' action.
The sports director of Augsburg said on the pay TV broadcaster Sky: "We are confident and optimistic."
The Augsburg (33 points) can make the stay in the Bundesliga before the last game at the German champions FC Bayern Munich with a win against the two points worse Bremer.
In his second game after returning to FCA, Weinzierl relies exactly on the starting eleven as in the 1: 2 a week ago against VfB Stuttgart.
The recovered striker Alfred Finnbogason is back in the Augsburg squad.
With the guests from Bremer, defender Ömer Toprak is fit again in time for the season finale and is part of the starting lineup.
He replaces the ailing Milos Veljkovic in central defense.
