Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The incidence of corona infections in Rhineland-Palatinate continued to decrease on Saturday.

The State Investigation Office stated the seven-day incidence of 76.2 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants (as of 11.10 a.m.).

This is the lowest level since March 23rd.

A week ago the incidence was 96.7.

The health authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate reported 372 new corona infections on Saturday.

According to the state investigation office, 11,793 people are currently infected with the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,642 Covid-19 patients have died in Rhineland-Palatinate, three more than on Friday.

The highest seven-day incidence was according to the figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Saturday morning (as of 3:10 a.m.) in the city of Ludwigshafen with 130.6.

This is followed by the cities of Worms (125.7), Mainz (109.3) and the district of Altenkirchen (108.7).

7 of the 36 counties and cities have an incidence of 100.

The district of Cochem-Zell has the lowest incidence with 34.2 infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

According to the State Investigation Office, 29 Covid 19 patients were brought to hospital within one day.

According to the latest data from the intensive care register of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine (Divi) on Friday, 157 Covid-19 patients were in intensive care units in hospitals in Rhineland-Palatinate.

93 of them are ventilated invasively.

The pandemic began in Rhineland-Palatinate at the end of February 2020 with a positive test in Koblenz.

Since then, 148 740 people have been proven to have been infected with Sars-CoV-2 in the state.
