Armed clashes took place between Palestinians and the Israeli occupation forces at Qalandia military checkpoint north of occupied Jerusalem, in light of mutual missile strikes between the Palestinian resistance factions and the Israeli army.

Al-Jazeera correspondent Guevara Al-Badiri quoted Israeli sources as saying that gunmen fired intensive bullets at the occupation forces at Qalandia checkpoint.

Activists on social media circulated videos of the armed clashes.

The correspondent stated that the checkpoint is completely fortified, referring to the symbolism of this targeting as it is one of the largest checkpoints and crossings separating Jerusalem from the West Bank.

The correspondent indicated that Israeli settlers attacked a number of Palestinian homes in the village of Asira al-Qibliya, south of Nablus.

The occupation forces also stormed a house in the village of Al-Issawiya, located on the northeastern side of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and a video clip showed the occupation soldiers trying to storm the house and climb to the roof, while the owner of the house tries to confront them amid the fear of his daughter who was carrying him in his hand, in violation of the sanctity of the house and its owners.

The situation in the Palestinian territories has exploded since April 13, as a result of brutal attacks committed by the Israeli police, settlers in Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque and its environs, and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, following Israeli efforts to evacuate 12 Palestinian homes and hand them over to settlers.

The marches took place yesterday, Saturday, in several areas of the West Bank, including Nablus, Qalqilya, Tulkarm and Tubas (north), Ramallah, Jerusalem, Bethlehem (center), and Hebron (south), amid a state of ferment in light of the Israeli attacks on Gaza, Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
