As the spread of Corona 19 in Japan is seldom caught, the number of Japanese businessmen opposing the hosting of the Tokyo Olympics in July is increasing.

In an interview with CNN Business Broadcasting, Hiroshi Mikitani, chief executive of Japanese large e-commerce company Rakuten, criticized the Japanese government for holding the Tokyo Olympics as a ``suicide mission''.

"It is dangerous to hold the international Olympics for people from all over the world as the vaccination is very late in Japan. The risk factor is too great," he said. "I oppose holding the Tokyo Olympics this year."

When the Japanese government was asked about the reason for holding the Olympics despite public opinion and opposition from businessmen, he smiled bitterly and said, "I don't know," and then criticized "I think it's a suicide mission to be honest. I have to stop."

He pointed out, "Many countries such as India and Brazil are still suffering. It is not time to celebrate."

He said, "I tried to persuade the Japanese government, but so far it wasn't very successful."

Regarding the possibility of canceling the Tokyo Olympics, he pointed out that "anything is possible now. We have discussed (this issue) several times with various government officials, and many do not really support hosting the Tokyo Olympics this year."
