- We have scared it away three times with dogs, sound and light.

We have fired into the air and the longest time we scared him away he was a full 15 kilometers away before we called the dogs home, says Joacim Lundqvist, game coordinator region north.

Despite repeated attempts, however, the bear, which was a young male, returned.

And in the end, they saw no other way than to kill the animal.

- It became an unsustainable situation for those who live there.

When he came back last night and really messed up the yard all the way up on the bridge, we made the tough decision to shoot it.

Afraid of bigger males

The reason why the bear returned time and time again is largely due to the fact that it is the breeding season and that there are larger male territories in the forest.

Staying in the woods could mean that a smaller bear is killed.

- They are pushed out of the forest and find security in the housing areas.

They also find pipes and other things on the yards that they can play with.

Now, in the area since the bear appeared, it has been kept clean and nice and locked in its waste, but it still smells like food and that may be enough for the bear to come back.

Joacim Lundqvist gives one last piece of advice to people who live in areas where bears could appear.

- We have a lot of bears in the county.

And during the rut, the young males are pushed out of the forest and look for food where people live.

That they are not rewarded for that is very important.

So lock in your bins, because if a bear gets a dividend where you live, there is a great risk that it will stay.

In the clip, you see when the bear is rooting around in the garbage on the farm in question.
