Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - After the shirt manufacturer van Laack secured a controversial order for 1.25 million fabric masks for the NRW police, the SPD made inquiries in the state parliament.

Via a small request, the opposition wants to know, among other things, which companies apart from van Laack participated in the tender.

The order caused a stir because van Laack had already received it in November 2020 - at that time for 1.30 euros per mask.

Because there was no tender, the deal was reversed and put out to tender.

Now van Laack has been awarded the contract again.

According to van Laack boss Christian von Daniels, this time for 49 cents per mask.

The SPD parliamentary group now wants to know what price the other applicants have called for the contract and whether the state government took legal advice on the tender this time.

The extent to which the opposition will or may receive answers in public also depends on the strict tendering law.
