Los Angeles (AP) - The Netflix hit series "Bridgerton" receives an offshoot that is said to revolve around the origin and love life of the young Queen Charlotte.

The planned miniseries will also shed light on the history of the characters Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury, as the streaming service announced.

There is no title for the production yet.

"Bridgerton" producer Shonda Rhimes, who became known among other things as the creator of the hospital series "Grey's Anatomy", is on board as a screenwriter and co-producer.

The first "Bridgerton" season started successfully on Netflix at the end of 2020, the second is currently in production.

In mid-April, the streaming giant announced two more seasons.
