Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Campsite operators in Brandenburg have reacted with mixed feelings to the opening to tourists at Whitsun.

Not all campsites could receive guests on May 21 because the number of new corona infections is still too high in some districts, said the Vice President of the Federal Association of the Camping Industry in Brandenburg (BVCD), Jörg Klofski.

Another downer is that the indoor catering in the facilities has to remain closed.

It has also not been clarified what happens when the number of new infections increases.

The state government announced the first easing of the corona rules on Tuesday. From the Friday before Pentecost, two households are allowed to spend the night in holiday apartments, holiday homes, on campsites and on charter boats with their own sanitary facilities, if the number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week is stable below 100 and a hygiene concept and negative tests are available . Hotels and guesthouses cannot open yet - the same applies to baths and thermal baths.

"We are very happy that we can work again," said the BVCD vice-president, who himself runs a campsite on the Schervenzsee (Oder-Spree district).

The places are all already booked for the delayed start of the season.

He was also optimistic about the distribution of the summer holidays in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, the three important countries for the branch in Brandenburg, and the progress in vaccination in Brandenburg.

According to its own information, the BVCD has 60 of a total of 174 places.

The spokeswoman for Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg (TMB), Birgit Kunkel, was relieved about the upcoming easing.

"The declining corona numbers make us optimistic that more openings will follow in June," she said.

The providers are prepared for the openings.

On the other hand, operators of outdoor swimming pools were disappointed in some cases.

"The outdoor pool season is very short, so all beautiful days should be able to be used," said the head of the Kiebitzberge outdoor pool, Markus Schmidt.

He would have liked an earlier opening date.

In Berlin, for example, the bathing season could start shortly before Pentecost with a stable seven-day incidence of less than 100 and corresponding hygiene concepts in the baths.

Brandenburg's State Secretary for Health Michael Ranft announced on Wednesday in the state parliament's health committee possible easing of outdoor swimming pools before the summer holidays.

Baths, saunas and wellness centers are subject to a special assessment of the infection situation.
