Berlin (dpa / bb) - Five men attacked a 22-year-old in Berlin-Neukölln and seriously injured him.
Two suspected attackers aged 18 and 19 were arrested thanks to the use of a police officer while they were not working, the police said on Saturday.
Together with three other men, they are said to have surrounded the 22-year-old in front of a supermarket on Rollbergstrasse on Friday and hit him with baseball and blackjack and sprayed him with pepper spray.
His 23-year-old companion, who got out of a car and wanted to mediate, was also injured in the arm.
An off-duty police officer alerted the emergency services and followed on foot.
Two suspects were then arrested in Hermannstrasse.
