Berlin (dpa / bb) - The Veritas advice center provides information on conspiracy stories on a new website.

They are not a new phenomenon, but can be observed even more frequently in exceptional situations such as the corona pandemic, announced the Senate Department for Home Affairs at the start of the website at https://veritas-beratung.de/ on Friday.

The counseling center, funded by the Berlin State Commission against Violence, started in January and supports people who are confronted with conspiracy stories in their professional or personal environment.

This can be family members, for example, but also teachers or specialists in youth work.

Veritas is supposed to be a direct point of contact for them exclusively for conspiracy narratives.

According to the internal administration, the offer is also aimed at people who feel trapped in conspiracy narratives and need help.

The free confidential advice is possible online, by phone, by e-mail, or in the advice center.

How dangerous conspiracy narratives are for democracy is shown in the corresponding special chapter in the recently published Constitutional Protection Report 2020, according to the interior administration.

Right-wing extremists and so-called Reich citizens in particular sought to join Corona protest movements in the past year and poisoned the social climate with conspiracy stories.
