Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia can expect more tax income in the state treasury this year than previously assumed due to the corona pandemic.

According to the May tax estimate, they are 92 million euros higher than the previous budget estimates for 2021.

Although the worst seemed over, tax holes remained, said Finance Minister Heike Taubert on Friday in Erfurt when the latest forecast was presented.

The Free State will only return to pre-crisis levels in the coming year.

It assumes that the Free State will then no longer have to take out new loans in 2022.

Taubert sees no additional leeway for the current budget.

"As in the previous year, we should use unexpected additional income to reduce borrowing to the bare minimum."

For 2022, the revenue expectations from the November tax estimate could now be increased by 85 million euros to around 8.4 billion euros.
