May 14, 2021 Suitcases ready, reservations made for 9 million Italians who already know where and when to go on vacation. However, this is not the case for everyone because there are 16 million, between those who still have to decide and those who already know they will have to give up, those who are missing from the pre-Covid times. The 2021 holiday picture emerges from a survey carried out, between 5 and 7 May, by Swg and Confturismo Confcommercio after the reopening decree and the announcements of the elimination of quarantines and the adoption of the Covid pass.

Italy and abroad

For 80% Italian holidays will be a privileged destination, the sea of Puglia and Sardinia, but also of Tuscany. The vaccination campaign and the arrival of the long-awaited European green pass, however, revive the desire for holidays abroad. According to the survey, the desire to leave national borders has risen from 13% to 20% compared to April. In this case we look to Spain, followed by Greece and France. According to Confturismo it pays for the consistency over time of the Iberian offer, which since this winter has never imposed quarantines for arriving tourists and "has been the protagonist of a discreet and incisive promotional communication".

Reduction for "Covid free"

As the vaccination plan in Italy progresses, the appeal of "Covid free" destinations is also decreasing. The percentage of those who would prefer them for a holiday dropped by 10 points between the two surveys, a trend that is predictable after all.
