Freiburg (dpa / lsw) - In the home game against FC Bayern Munich, SC Freiburg would like to prevent guest striker Robert Lewandowski from surpassing Gerd Müller's age-old goal record.

And if it goes to Freiburg's coach Christian Streich, the Polish international striker shouldn't succeed on the last day of the Bundesliga at the end of next week.

"I wouldn't find it so cool now if Robert Lewandowski wiped out Gerd Müller's record," said Streich the day before the game against the old and new German champions on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky).

Because he was "to a certain extent socialized with Gerd Müller," said the 55-year-old.

The “bomber of the nation” was a “hero” for him and his childhood friends.

Müller scored a total of 40 goals in the 1971/1972 season.

Lewandowski is only missing one goal before the penultimate match day with 39 to set the Bundesliga record.

“I would say he should do another one next week and that's enough.

He has enough titles.

And then he should share the record with Gerd Müller.

I would like it to be like that, ”said SC coach Streich.

In the last home game of this season, Freiburg can play with the best line-up.

He doesn't have to particularly motivate his team against Bayern, even if it's only about the minimal chance of participating in the new Conference League.

A game against FCB is "always something special," said Streich.
