Bremerhaven (dpa) - You can hardly imagine it: a cyclist falls - and a car driver stops, steals the bike and drives away without taking care of the injured person.
That is exactly what happened in Bremerhaven.
The 52-year-old cyclist fell on Thursday evening “without any outside influence” and was injured on the street, the police said on Friday.
According to witness reports, a car stopped, the 40-year-old driver got out, took the injured person's bike, stowed it in the trunk of his station wagon and drove away.
This was confirmed by independent witnesses, said a police spokesman.
"That is our current level of knowledge."
The driver was reportedly described as slim, wearing blue jeans, a checked shirt and a blue cardigan.
He has gray hair.
The police are hoping for more witnesses.
