Frankfurt (Oder) (dpa / bb) - Brandenburgers can go on a short shopping trip across the border to Poland again - without corona quarantine and negative test.
With the new coronavirus entry regulation of the federal government, this has been possible since Thursday.
Those who visit direct relatives (first degree) for less than 72 hours or go shopping in Poland for up to 24 hours need neither quarantine nor test, said the spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dominik Lenz, on Friday.
The cabinet will decide on Monday whether the country's current quarantine regulation will expire or be changed accordingly.
The neighboring country of Poland has only been a corona risk area since last Sunday. This means that the compulsory corona test before entering the country by land was no longer necessary and it was sufficient to be tested up to 48 hours after entering the country. From March 21st to May 8th, Poland was a high incidence area with major travel restrictions due to the high number of infections, because the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants was over 200 in one week.
With the new regulation, the federal government lifted the general quarantine requirement when entering from more than 100 countries.
Anyone entering Germany from there can free themselves from the quarantine with a negative test.
The test is necessary for air travelers anyway.
Those who have recovered and who have been completely vaccinated against Corona only need to be quarantined if they come from an area with new virus variants; a test before and after entry is not required.

At the end of April, the Brandenburg cabinet had already decided that fully vaccinated people no longer need to be quarantined for ten days after entering the high-incidence area of Poland.
Cross-border commuters who cross the border for work, family or other valid reasons were already exempt from the quarantine obligation, but had to submit a negative test twice a week.
