Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - The Saarland begins this Saturday with special vaccinations in socially disadvantaged areas.

The Saarland Minister of Health Monika Bachmann (CDU) announced in Saarbrücken on Friday.

The ministry is in contact with 18 projects.

The vaccination date has already been set for six locations.

"In socially disadvantaged areas, the housing situation is often limited, people live in socially difficult circumstances," said the minister.

"There we have to facilitate access to vaccination offers in order to break possible chains of infection in a targeted manner."

She is happy to be able to offer a vaccination to many people with just a few weeks' lead time.

The preparations for the special vaccinations continued in full swing.

Other federal states also vaccinate specifically in socially disadvantaged areas.

Since May 3, for example, mobile vaccination teams have been going specifically to districts such as Chorweiler in Cologne.
