According to RIA Novosti, Pashinyan spoke about the letter to the Russian leader during an extraordinary session of the parliament.

“I turned to the President of Russia for the Russian Federation to provide assistance to Armenia in this situation, including military assistance,” he said.

On May 13, the Armenian prosecutor's office opened a criminal case on violation of the state border in the Syunik region by Azerbaijan.

At the same time, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry expressed surprise in connection with the "provocative" statements of Armenia and urged not to unreasonably escalate the situation in the region.

They also reported that the leadership of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan has been holding talks with Armenian border guards since May 12 to resolve the situation on the border of the republics.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the situation with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan.
