Erfurt (dpa / th) - In Thuringia, more than a million vaccinations have been administered since the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 began.

These include almost 700,000 first and around 317,000 second vaccinations, as emerged from an overview by the Berlin Robert Koch Institute on Friday.

According to this, almost 15 percent of people in the Free State have full vaccination protection after two injections.

That is the nationwide peak value.

On a national average, 10.6 percent of the population have already received two vaccinations. A third of the Thuringian population has had the first vaccination, nationwide it is almost 36 percent. The vaccinations continued on Ascension Day. On Friday, those wishing to be vaccinated could still book individual free appointments in the vaccination centers in Erfurt, Gera and Meiningen, as the Ministry of Health announced.

Unlike other federal states, Thuringia is currently still following the vaccination sequence (prioritization) provided for in the Federal Vaccination Ordinance.

Baden-Wuerttemberg and Bavaria, among others, had announced that they would lift the sequence and allow vaccination for all adults regardless of age, occupation or previous illnesses.

According to the Ministry of Health, Thuringia relies on a nationwide coordinated and as uniform procedure as possible.

It expects that the prioritization can be lifted in June.

In Thuringia, the sequence has so far only been dropped for immunization with the Astrazeneca vaccine in medical practices.
