May 14, 2021A vast hacker attack on the Irish Health Service (HSE) today forced the Dublin authorities to shut down the hospital booking system for "precautionary" purposes, to safeguard personal data.

This was announced by the leaders of the government and the HSE itself.

However, according to what has been specified, the measure does not involve the anti Covid vaccination program, which is currently continuing regularly.

It is unclear what the scale of the impact on the Irish health system is. Dublin's Rotunda Maternity Clinic reports that it is canceling mostly routine appointments due to computer system problems, calling the situation a "critical emergency". "There is a significant ransomware attack on HSE's computer systems," the Health Service Executive (Hse) tweeted. "We have taken the precaution of disabling all of our computer systems to protect them from this attack and allow us to fully assess the situation with our security partners," he added.
