Hamburg (dpa) - Second division soccer club Hamburger SV has preserved its minimal chance of promotion through a clear home win.
After five games without a win, the team won the debut of three-week coach Horst Hrubesch on Monday evening with 5: 2 (3: 1) against 1. FC Nürnberg and moved up to fourth place in the table with 55 points.
HSV took the lead through an own goal by Asger Sörensen (30th minute), the other goals were scored by Bakery Jatta (36th), double goal scorer Simon Terodde (45th + 2 / 80th / penalty kick) and Sonny Kittel (76th).
Erik Shuranov scored 1: 2 (41st) and Linus Rosenlöcher (89th) for the club.
HSV had separated from coach Daniel Thioune a week ago - Hrubesch took over.
For the guests it was the first defeat since March 7th - after that the club started a series of successes with three wins and four draws.
Holstein Kiel had previously made the hoped-for jump to second place.
In the first of two catch-up games, the Kiel team prevailed 1-0 (1-0) against Hannover 96 and pushed the previous second Greuther Fürth (58) to the relegation rank with 59 points.
Two game days before the end of the season, HSV moved up to three points against Fürth.
