In the Paca region, the National Rally is leading the regional elections in two polls.

The government is already trying to anticipate the consequences of a victory for the far right, at the national and local level, but also at the symbolic and economic level.

While two recent polls suggest a possible victory for the National Rally list, led by Thierry Mariani, for the regional elections in Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, the government is already trying to anticipate the concrete consequences of this eventuality.

Beyond the political impact of such an earthquake, which would strengthen the presidential dynamic of Marine Le Pen, the image effects would be very negative for the executive.

On each of their trips to the South, members of the government would thus be greeted by a president of an RN region, for example.

Another very embarrassing consequence, believes the executive: the Cannes festival.

For many ministers, it is unbearable to imagine elected RNs appearing in magazine photos, next to actors and personalities from around the world.

A four-handed recovery plan

Apart from these symbols, the most annoying for the Elysee would be that the RN could be credited with the benefits of the recovery plan, driven by the government in the region.

The executive has particularly invested in Paca, particularly in the local economy and infrastructure.

A plan sewn in four hands by Emmanuel Macron and Renaud Muselier, outgoing LR president of the region at a time when the head of state was still convinced of the victory of the outgoing president of the region.

After a political battle and several contradictory statements, the presidential majority will finally support the candidate for his re-election, who has already submitted his list, with the aim of countering the RN. Secretary of State Sophie Cluzel announced Thursday that she would finally present "no list" of the majority for the regions.
