List / Sylt (dpa / lno) - Heating oil from the tank of an emergency generator in the sewage pumping station in List on Sylt has flowed into the sewer system.
The removal of the pollution by the fire brigade and a specialist company will take about 24 hours, the northern control center announced on Friday.
The mission started around 2 p.m.
Why the heating oil leaked and the amount were initially unknown.
The residents were asked to discharge only the most necessary quantities of wastewater into the sewer system in order to prevent further distribution of the pollution.
