Legden (dpa) - Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) had his family doctor in Legden, Münsterland, vaccinated against corona on Friday.
The 40-year-old received the vaccine from the Astrazeneca company.
He made a conscious decision after talking to the doctor, he said, according to a spokesman.
For complete protection, Spahn only needs one vaccination because he has already suffered from corona, the spokesman said.
“After these long months of the pandemic, it feels good to be vaccinated and thus protected.
All of the vaccines we have approved work very well and are safe, ”emphasized Spahn.
"I can only recommend anyone who receives a vaccination offer to get vaccinated."
The only way out of the pandemic would be through more vaccinations and lower incidences.

According to his ministry, Spahn would have had the opportunity, as a member of the federal government in priority group 3, to be vaccinated with other vaccines in Berlin.
The Astrazeneca vaccine can be vaccinated independently of priority groups since May 6th.
