Cuxhaven (dpa / lni) - A motorboat with four 70-year-old men on board got into trouble in the Elbe estuary near Cuxhaven.

After a total failure, the boat drifted unable to maneuver between Altenbruch and Otterndorf late on Thursday evening, as the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS) announced on Friday.

The seniors alerted the sea rescuers who were towing the motorboat towards Cuxhaven.

On the way there, however, the boat began to sink and one of the men got his foot caught on the boat.

Only at the last minute could he be freed from the cold water.

All four men were unharmed.

The water police in Cuxhaven determined the cause of the accident.
