Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The number of right-wing extremist actions in Brandenburg has continued to decline in the first quarter, according to the Interior Ministry.

According to preliminary information, the police registered five activities from January to March, including three criminal offenses, as the ministry announced in response to a request from the left parliamentary representative, Andrea Johlige.

That was six cases fewer than in the first quarter of 2020.

Over the past year, the authorities reported 67 rallies, vigils and other right-wing activities; In 2019 there were 55. The three offenses are reported to be violations of the Assembly Act. At two rallies in January in Brandenburg an der Havel and in Falkenberg (Märkisch-Oderland) as well as in February in Ruhland (Oberspreewald-Lausitz) the right-wing extremist parties The Third Way and the NPD and their youth organization were the organizers.

Both parties had organized another event in Lebus (Märkisch-Oderland) in March.

In February, the Association of Citizens for Civil Rights in Cottbus raised the mood against the Corona policy with a silent march.

The event in Brandenburg an der Havel was also a demonstration against the Corona regulations.

Unlike earlier right-wing extremist rallies or marches, the activities in the first quarter were not directed against refugees and their accommodations, according to the Interior Ministry.

It was also said that no right-wing concerts were organized during the reporting period.

The left-wing member of the state parliament, Johlige, criticized the numbers given by the interior department as too low.

"The right-wing scene is currently much more active than a year ago," she said on request.

The extreme right has increasingly participated in the corona demonstrations in recent months.

The information contained in the answer therefore did not reflect the actual extent of right-wing extremist activity.
