This is a derogatory authorization that may be granted to several categories of people: diplomats, civil servants, missionary of the Malagasy state, expert in strategic industries, but also to sports delegations, to athletes who represent Madagascar abroad. for competitions.

Two PCR tests and a quarantine

The Council of Ministers indicates that these passengers will have to quarantine themselves for eight days on their arrival with two PCR tests: one on their arrival and one before the end of their confinement.

This derogatory authorization does not concern residents of the island, stranded in Europe, nor tourists.

There is also no possibility for relatives to visit their families in the country, the press release added.

This is the second time that Madagascar has banned passengers from abroad.

During the first wave in June 2020, the government also completely closed the borders.

Before authorizing repatriations on a short time slot in August.

Once this period had passed, an exceptional authorization had to be obtained to go to the territory.
