China accused the United States of double standards regarding the ongoing confrontations between Israel and the Palestinians, and for his part, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made intense diplomatic contacts, with the aim of curbing the bloody Israeli attacks in Palestine.

"While the United States claims that it cares about the human rights of Muslims, it does not care about the suffering of the Palestinian people," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying.

She also indicated that her country seeks to push the Security Council to perform its duties in the case in order to maintain international peace and security.

The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman stressed that China will continue to affirm its commitment and firm support to the two-state solution, and to promote the restoration of peace and stability in the region as soon as possible.

The United States refused to hold an emergency session of the Security Council, today, Friday, claiming to give an opportunity to the ongoing diplomatic efforts to stop the military escalation between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

And Washington (the first ally of Israel) prevented the issuance of a statement by the Security Council in two closed sessions held last Monday and Wednesday, regarding the "brutal" Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Since April 13, the situation in the Palestinian territories has exploded as a result of "brutal" attacks perpetrated by the Israeli police, settlers in Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its environs, and the "Sheikh Jarrah" neighborhood, following Israeli efforts to evacuate 12 Palestinian families and hand them over to settlers.

The Israeli attacks extended to the Gaza Strip, and according to the latest official Palestinian toll, the continuous aggression since Monday resulted in the death of 119 civilians, including 31 children and 19 women, and the injury of 830.

European position

In turn, the European Union demanded an immediate cessation of violence in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement, Josep Borrell, the European Union's foreign minister, called for an immediate cessation of violence to avert a wider conflict.

Borrell said that the indiscriminate firing of shells by Hamas and other groups towards Israeli civilians is unacceptable.

He added that despite recognition of Israel's legitimate need to protect its civilian population, the response must be proportionate and subject to the utmost restraint.

For his part, British Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs James Cleverley called on Israel, Hamas and the Palestinians to back off the escalation.

Cleverley described the level of missile attacks on Israel, by Hamas, as unprecedented, as he put it.

He added that it is important for the two sides to take a step back, calling on Hamas to stop the rocket attacks on Israel.

Turkish contacts

For its part, the Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed its concern about the start of Israeli artillery and tanks shelling of Gaza, and called on the international community to act quickly.

The presidency said that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been conducting intense diplomatic contacts for days, with the aim of curbing the bloody Israeli attacks in Palestine, and forcing the international community to show a harsh response and a deterrent lesson to Israel.

Erdogan made a series of phone calls with heads of state and government about 20 countries, including Palestine, Russia, Qatar, Pakistan, Kuwait and Algeria.

At a time when Turkey continues its efforts to mobilize all relevant international institutions, especially the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to support Palestine against the Israeli attacks.

The Turkish President called on the leaders with whom he discussed to take effective joint measures against the attacks and repression practiced by Israel against Al-Aqsa Mosque, occupied Jerusalem, Gaza and Palestinian Muslims.

He stressed that Ankara is making all attempts at all levels to mobilize the international community, led by the Islamic world, in order to stop terrorism and the Israeli occupation, stressing that Turkey will always support the Palestinian cause and stand by its Palestinian brothers and preserve the dignity of Jerusalem.

President Erdogan also stressed the importance of the UN Security Council intervening before the crisis escalates, and the need to work on the idea of sending an international force to the region to protect Palestinian civilians.

Iranian-Iraqi condemnation

For his part, Mahmoud Vaezi, director of the Iranian president’s office, said, "The blatant violence practiced by Israel against the Palestinian people is evidence of the incompetence of international organizations and their failure to support human rights and defend the oppressed."

Vaezi added, in his tweet on Twitter, that free peoples must condemn this violence, stressing that this injustice practiced by Israel will be eliminated thanks to the resistance of the Palestinian people, as he put it.

Khashanat Aryan, a Zionist, a Zionist, against him, a landfill of Palestine.
