Bremen (dpa / lni) - Because of the corona pandemic, Bremen expects tax revenues to decline until 2023.

From 2024, a small increase is to be expected, said Finance Senator Dietmar Strehl (Greens) on Friday.

With the tax estimate from May, the outlook would not have worsened significantly compared to the previous estimate from November.

But the expected income in 2021 is still 174 million euros lower than expected before the Corona crisis, for 2022 it will be 155 million euros less.

"The Senate's cautious income expectation for the double budget 2022/23 was correct," said Strehl.

The corona-related collapse will still cause a lot of work for some time.

"At least we don't have to fill any major new loopholes based on the tax estimate."

In the exceptional situation, the country will finance the shortfalls with emergency loans.

According to May's tax estimate, the state will earn around 3.4 billion euros in 2021, including federal funds.

In 2022 there will be around 3.55 billion euros in taxes.
