In an interview with SBS earlier this month, the National Unified Government of Myanmar's democratic camp, which requested recognition of the only legitimate government in Myanmar, recently contacted a Korean government official and requested that it be approved as the official government.

An official from the National Integration Government of Myanmar told SBS on the 14th, "Minister of Foreign Affairs Jin Ma Aung contacted South Korean Ambassador Lee Sang-hwa to Myanmar earlier this month and asked for recognition as the only legitimate government in Myanmar." I told him.”

The Korean government has already been actively engaged in sanctions by the military, such as banning the export of military materials to Myanmar on March 12, but the approval of the National Integrated Government is another level of issue, so it appears to be responding carefully.

In this regard, at a regular briefing yesterday, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Choi Young-sam answered the question "is the Korean government planning to legally approve and support the National Integration Government?"

In fact, several major countries, including the United States, are also in contact with the National Unified Government to express support and solidarity, but it is believed that no one has been officially approved as the only legal government in Myanmar.

It is known that the government is reviewing related support only because it is a matter that is directly related to the welfare of the people of Myanmar or that it is a policy to continue humanitarian projects.
