The opportunity to apply for the support was announced in February this year in 62 locations in the five northernmost counties, including in connection with major tourist destinations.

Various companies have now received grants to build fast charging stations at 39 of the 62 locations.

The Swedish Transport Administration offers the support because they want the use of electric cars to increase and thus reduce emissions from traffic.

Västerbotten receives support for 15 charging stations, Norrbotten 13 and Jämtland 11.

- It feels good that we can now further densify our charging infrastructure.

In order for the use of electric cars to increase, and thereby reduce emissions from traffic, the Swedish Transport Administration is working to increase the opportunities for fast charging, says Hanna Eklöf, head of investigation at the Swedish Transport Administration.

In the autumn, 20 places were granted support for fast charging stations, the Swedish Transport Administration has so far contributed to 59 new fast charging stations, most of which are in the interior of Norrland.

The Swedish Transport Administration's ambition is that there should be access to fast charging at least every 10 km along the functionally prioritized road network for long-distance passenger journeys.
