Wolfsburg (AP) - Renato Steffen from Wolfsburg is no longer playing in the remaining two games of the season due to an ankle injury and also missed the European championship with the Swiss national soccer team.
The Bundesliga team announced on Monday.
The 29-year-old attacking player suffered the injury on March 6th in the 1: 2 defeat in Hoffenheim.
"I am of course very sad that I can no longer help VfL to finalize the qualification for the Champions League," said Steffen.
"And that I'm missing the European Championship with Switzerland is bitter and hurts a lot."
Switzerland will face Italy, Turkey and Wales in the pan-European European Championship from June 11th to July 11th.
