Mainz (dpa / lrs) - As planned, the Rhineland-Palatinate state government wants to use Johnson & Johnson in the facilities for homeless people, in initial reception facilities and in women's shelters, in the penal system and in psychiatric day clinics.

"The fact that the vaccine from Johnson & Johnson only needs to be vaccinated once is an advantage in the special group of people with their specific challenges, for example with a view to a second vaccination appointment, the greater effort required," said Ministry spokesman Markus Kuhlen on Monday in Mainz.

"The planned and in some cases already scheduled vaccinations will therefore continue to be offered by the state."

So far around 12,000 doses of the vaccine have been delivered.

The health ministers had stated in their decision that when people under 60 years of age were vaccinated with the vaccine from the US company, a doctor should definitely decide and provide information.

"In the case of vaccinations in the facilities mentioned, appropriate medical information is therefore provided for people under the age of 60," said Kuhlen.

If necessary, interpreters are available for this and there are multilingual documents from the Robert Koch Institute.
